Second-Hand Google Pixel in 2026: Which Model to Buy in India (Pixel 8, 8a, 9a or 10a?)
Thinking about a used Pixel? We compare every second-hand Google Pixel worth buying in 2026, with real prices, update end dates, the battery problems to check for, and where to get one repaired in Ahmedabad.
People buy a Pixel for three reasons: the camera, the clean Android software and the long update promise. People hesitate for three reasons too: worries about service in India, stories about battery problems, and not knowing which of the many Pixel models is actually worth it.
A second-hand Google Pixel is one of the best-value phones you can buy in India right now, if you pick the right model. A Pixel 8 that launched at ₹75,999 costs under ₹30,000 at our stores today, and it still has updates until 2030. Pick the wrong one, though, and you could end up with a phone that has already stopped getting security updates.
The short answer
- Best value: Pixel 8, from about ₹26,000, with updates until about October 2030
- Best budget pick: Pixel 8a, from about ₹24,000, with updates until about May 2031
- Best battery life: Pixel 9a, about ₹36,000
- Best zoom on a budget: Pixel 8 Pro, from about ₹36,000
- Avoid: Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, which have reached the end of their updates
Is it good to buy a Google Pixel in India?
Yes, with your eyes open. Here's the honest picture.
What's great:
- The camera. Pixels take natural, sharp photos with very little effort, especially of people and in low light.
- Seven years of updates on the Pixel 8 and every model after it. Most Android brands promise far less.
- Clean software with no pre-installed junk, and Google's AI features arrive on Pixels first.
What to know:
- Heat and battery. Google's Tensor chips up to the G4 have a reputation for running warm when gaming or on mobile data. Reviews rate the newer Tensor G5 (Pixel 10 series) and G6 (Pixel 11 series) better here.
- Charging is slower than many Indian rivals: 18W to 30W on most models.
- Service. Pixel service in India used to be a real weak spot. It's better now. Google offers same-day repairs in 21 Indian cities, including Ahmedabad (more on that below).
Second-hand Pixel price list in India (2026)
These are the prices on our site on 2 November 2026, alongside how long each model will keep getting updates. Google counts support from when each phone first went on sale in the US: 5 years for the Pixel 6 and 7 series, and 7 years from the Pixel 8 onwards. See the live Pixel listings for today's stock.
| Model | Our price (2 Nov 2026) | Updates until (approx.) | Our take |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel 6 Pro | ₹23,190 | Ended October 2026 | Avoid |
| Pixel 6a | ₹16,490 | July 2027 | Short-term only |
| Pixel 7 | ₹20,590 | October 2027 | Short-term only |
| Pixel 7a | ₹21,590 | May 2028 | Check the battery |
| Pixel 8a | ₹24,190 – ₹28,290 | May 2031 | Best budget pick |
| Pixel 8 | ₹25,790 – ₹29,890 | October 2030 | Best value |
| Pixel 9a | ₹36,090 | April 2032 | Best battery life |
| Pixel 8 Pro | ₹36,090 – ₹39,090 | October 2030 | Zoom on a budget |
| Pixel 10a | ₹43,290 – ₹44,290 | Early 2033 | Longest support under ₹45,000 |
| Pixel 9 Pro XL | ₹55,590 – ₹59,690 | August 2031 | Big-screen flagship |
| Pixel 10 Pro | ₹68,990 | August 2032 | Compact flagship |
| Pixel 11 | ₹73,090 | August 2033 | Newest chip (launched at ₹89,999) |
| Pixel 10 Pro XL | ₹77,290 | August 2032 | Best camera in this list |
One thing worth knowing: buying a Pixel second-hand doesn't restart the clock. A Pixel 8 bought today still stops getting updates around October 2030.
Pixel 8 vs Pixel 8a: which is better?
This is the most common Pixel question we get, because at our stores they cost almost the same. Both use the same Tensor G3 chip and get the same seven years of updates (the 8a, launched later, gets about seven months more).
| Pixel 8 | Pixel 8a | |
|---|---|---|
| Screen | 6.2-inch, 120Hz | 6.1-inch, 120Hz |
| Back | Glass | Matte plastic |
| Main camera | 50MP, larger sensor | 64MP |
| Charging | 27W wired, 18W wireless | 18W wired, 7.5W wireless |
| Water resistance | IP68 | IP67 |
| Battery health in Settings | Not shown | Shown, with cycle count |
| Our price | ₹25,790 – ₹29,890 | ₹24,190 – ₹28,290 |
Our verdict: buy the Pixel 8. For about ₹1,600 more, you get a nicer build, a better main camera and faster charging. Choose the 8a if it's the lowest price you can find, or if you want to see the battery's health and cycle count for yourself before you buy.
Is the Pixel 8 worth buying in 2026?
Yes. At under ₹30,000, it's hard to beat. You get a flagship-grade camera, a bright 120Hz screen, IP68 water resistance and updates until about October 2030. Just be realistic about the battery: it's a 4,575mAh cell in a warm-running chip, so heavy users on 5G will be reaching for the charger by evening. If that worries you, look at the Pixel 9a.
Is the Pixel 8 Pro worth it in 2026?
If you want zoom, yes. The 8 Pro adds a 48MP 5x telephoto camera, a bigger 6.7-inch screen and 12GB of RAM, for about the same price as a used Pixel 9a. It launched at ₹1,06,999 in India.
Pixel 9a vs Pixel 10a: which should you buy?
Here's something many buyers don't realise: the Pixel 10a uses the same Tensor G4 chip and the same cameras as the Pixel 9a. Both launched in India at ₹49,999. The main things the 10a adds are tougher Gorilla Glass 7i on the front and about one more year of updates.
At our stores, the gap is about ₹7,200 (₹36,090 against ₹43,290). For most people, the Pixel 9a is the better buy. It has a 5,100mAh battery, IP68 water resistance and updates until April 2032. Pick the 10a only if you plan to keep the phone for six years or more.
Pixel problems to check before you buy a used one
- Battery swelling on the Pixel 6a and 7a. Google ran battery programmes for both. In 2025, a mandatory update reduced battery capacity and charging speed on affected Pixel 6a phones, and Google offered free battery replacements in India from 21 July 2025. The Pixel 7a has an extended repair programme for swollen batteries, with a mail-in option in India. Look for a gap between the screen and the frame, or a phone that rocks on a flat table. Ask whether the battery was replaced.
- Battery health. On the Pixel 8a and newer, check Settings > Battery > Battery health (it should say "Normal") and the cycle count in Settings > About phone > Battery information. The Pixel 8, 8 Pro and older models don't show this, so rely on the seller's report or the battery grade on the listing.
- The screen. Open a plain white or grey image at full brightness and look for burn-in, dead pixels or a green tint at low brightness.
- Fingerprint and face unlock. Register a fingerprint and unlock the phone five or six times in a row.
- Imported units. Check where the phone was bought. Phones from Japan have a camera shutter sound you can't turn off, American carrier phones can come locked to a network, and Google's warranty and repair programmes may not cover a phone bought abroad.
- Google account removed. The seller must sign out of their Google account and factory reset the phone in front of you, or it can lock after a reset.
- IMEI. Dial *#06# and check the IMEI on Sanchar Saathi. Our Sanchar Saathi guide shows you how.
- 5G and calls. Put your own SIM in, make a call, and run a speed test on mobile data. Notice if the phone gets unusually hot.
Google Pixel service centre in Ahmedabad
If you live in or near Ahmedabad, Pixel repairs are easier than most people think. According to Google's India service page, the Google Authorized Service Centre in Ahmedabad is at Krishna Complex, opposite Devashish School, Bodakdev. It's open Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm. If you hand your phone in before 2 pm, it may be repaired the same day, though Google suggests checking with the centre first.
Ahmedabad is one of 21 Indian cities where Google offers same-day Pixel repairs. That's a big change from a few years ago, when Pixel owners in Gujarat often had to courier phones away for weeks.

Frequently asked questions
Is it good to buy a second-hand Pixel in India?
Yes, if you buy a Pixel 8 or newer. They get seven years of updates, take excellent photos and cost a fraction of their launch price. Avoid the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, which no longer get updates, and check the battery carefully on a Pixel 6a or 7a.
Is the Pixel 8 worth buying in 2026?
Yes. A checked Pixel 8 costs ₹25,790 to ₹29,890 at our stores, against a launch price of ₹75,999, and it gets updates until about October 2030. Battery life is average, so heavy users may prefer a Pixel 9a.
Which is better, Pixel 8a or Pixel 8?
The Pixel 8 has a glass back, a better main camera, faster charging and IP68 water resistance. The 8a has a plastic back but shows battery health in Settings and gets a few more months of updates. At similar prices, we'd pick the Pixel 8.
Pixel 9a or Pixel 10a: which should I buy?
The Pixel 9a, for most people. Both use the Tensor G4 chip and the same cameras. The 10a adds tougher front glass and about one more year of updates, for roughly ₹7,200 more at our stores.
How many years of updates will the Pixel 8 get?
Seven years from its US launch, so until about October 2030. The Pixel 8a gets updates until about May 2031.
Where is the Google Pixel service centre in Ahmedabad?
Google lists its authorised service centre at Krishna Complex, opposite Devashish School, Bodakdev, Ahmedabad. It's open Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm. Phones handed in before 2 pm may be repaired the same day.
Which Pixel should I avoid buying second-hand?
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, because their updates have ended. The Pixel 6a and Pixel 7 stop getting updates in 2027, so only buy one for short-term use, and at a low price.
